Dludluma purifies and supplies water to the community and soldiers donate their free services to the underprivileged.
“We purify 60 litres of water that comes straight from the borehole and is salty, and we collect 30 litres from the municipality. In total we supply 90 litres per day to the community,” said Siboniso Maseko, communication officer of the Joint Tactical Headquarters in Mpumalanga.
Dludluma drop-off centre received food parcels and clothes for the needy.
Among the recipients was Mbombo Combined School, to which the SANDF supplies an ongoing labour and maintenance service.
The principal, Isaac Mdaka, praised their presence at the school.
“They have done a lot for us and we can never thank them enough. They assisted us with building a kitchen, painting the classrooms, welding the Jojo tanks' stands and adding more water taps,” said Mdaka.
Josiah Mulavela, who has not been able to walk for over a year, received a wheelchair.
“Moving around was a challenge as they had to carry me. This wheelchair has brought me joy and I will not bother anyone now as I will be able to move around on my own,” he said.
