Bardolino market - a retreat for all

- Linzetta Calitz

MBOMBELA - Starting Saturday morning off with a yoga class, and then collecting the week’s pre-ordered fresh produce has been a possibility at the Bardolino Drive-through Market for the past six weeks. If you stick around long enough, you might even get a half-priced second cup of coffee.

Jennifer Schormann, market organiser, said her aim is to create a space for members of the community to support and get to know one another. “Our whole ethos is to try and support as local as possible.” People living on or close to the property

(The Bardolino Artist Retreat) where the market is hosted, are also market participants. “So, it’s about really getting to know one another and to support each other. What has been amazing is how our community has come together.”

They keep everything organic and Schormann said the idea is also to try and encourage people to eat healthier and lead a healthier lifestyle.

“Complementing that is our birding walk every second week, to help people to get out into nature, in a safe environment. This weekend there will be a Women’s Day picnic - with social distancing observed.

“Everyone brings their own crockery, cutlery and picnic blanket. The ladies can buy their picnic goodies at the market to enjoy in the gardens. There will be a competition for the most fabulous mask as well as the most interesting and prettiest one.” For more information, visit The Bardolino Homegrown “drive-through” Market on Facebook.
