MBOMBELA - To give back to the community, Greek Kouzina recently hosted an evening with the theme of “a Greek affair”.

Proceeds of the evening totalled R12 260 and was donated to Cansa.

The owner of the restaurant, Deon Dennis, said throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the community had been there, supporting them, and this is their way of saying thank you.

“Every two or three months we are going to choose an organisation to give back to, just to say we appreciate you and your support; here is something back.”

The evening had a set menu consisting of a choice of starters, mains and desserts.

Guests were entertained by local singer Anne-Mari and dancers Rosalina Vieira and Werner Steinmann.

Raffle tickets were also sold for a painting by Marlene Pretorius and a winner was drawn before the end of the evening.

The highlight of the evening had to be the traditional Greek dance, during which guests were given the opportunity to break clay plates. Each guest received one plate on the house and could buy more if they wished.

The R5 for every additional plate purchased also went to Cansa.

The hosts said they received only positive feedback and were looking forward to receive guests for the next evening of this kind.
