Galaxy to keep on fighting

- Mbekezeli Mbuli

DStv Premiership campaigners, TS Galaxy are adamant about a place in the top eight of the DStv Premiership.

With only four games left, Galaxy found themselves in a tight position and every game is a must-win to realise their goal.

“Our goal for this season is to finish within the top eight and have a shot at the MTN 8 competition in the new season. This hasn’t changed, we still want that top-eight spot. Just like all the other teams behind us who are also eyeing a topeight spot, we are also looking at it and are never going to let it slip away,” said Galaxy spokesperson, Mini Mkhize.

Galaxy are currently ninth on the DStv Premiership table with 32 points after 26 games.

At one point Galaxy were on top of their game and looked to have already booked themselves a space in the top eight, but then they started dropping points.

They lost 2-0 to Maritzburg United on March 20, lost 2-1 against Bloemfontein Celtic on April 4, lost 2-0 against TTM on April 10 and went to lose 2-1 against AmaZulu on April 24.

These losses cost the home team 12 valuable points.

After these defeats, though, they came back to their winning ways and recorded two successive victories against Baroka FC on April 28 and Cape Town City on May 1.

They then went on to lose their last game on home soil against Mamelodi Sundowns. “We are aware that time is quickly running out and we need to pull up our socks to make it to the top eight. We are also aware that it’s not going to be easy as we are left with only four tough games. We still have to play Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs who are also fighting for a place in the top eight. But we need to be tough as well and soldier on,” said Mkhize,

After yesterday’s fixture against Golden Arrows, Galaxy will play Orlando Pirates, Stellenboch FC and Kaizer Chiefs.
