MBOMBELA - The New Nations Pumas collaborated with five local SUPERSPARs, two of which are situated in Mbombela - at the Crossing Shopping Centre and The Grove - in the hopes of giving back to the community.

Cassandra Jacobs, media and marketing officer for the Pumas, said, “Because the Pumas are community-driven, we try to get involved with the community as much as possible.

“We give back where we can; by using our platform we try to support those in need.”

According to Jacobs, each of the SUPERSPARs identified a local charity organisation they felt was in need of support.

Crossing SUPERSPAR chose the Pro-Life Pet Rescue,

Rehabilitation and Adoption Agency, while The Grove SUPERSPAR chose diPhumelela Youth Centre.

“We placed bins at the cashiers to encourage people to add extra necessities to their trolleys to donate,” Jacobs said.

“They are welcome to bring anything they would like to donate from home as well, to put in the bins.”

The community has until

June 21 to donate to these bins, after which the Pumas players will visit the identified charity organisations to hand over the donations.

“We don’t always realise how much people are struggling, especially with winter approaching and the aftermath of Covid-19,” Jacobs said. “We need to do everything we can to help and support them.”
