The Lowvelder

A handy checklist before a holiday trip

- The following is a minimum checklist of requirements to consider ahead of your holiday: Sanlam is a licensed financial services provider.

If the Covid-19 pandemic has taught us anything, one of the most important lessons must surely be to appreciate life and our health in particular.

While last year’s lockdown level 5 significantly helped to curb travelling and fatalities, our current lockdown level 2 scenario might present higher risks, as many may be in a greater hurry to get to their holiday destinations.

1. Get adequate death and disability cover: It is advisable that you get natural cause as well as accidental death and disability cover.

2. Ensure that the activities you are planning, are covered: Sanlam Go Cover is a simple mobile app that allows you to buy accidental injury and death cover on demand, for just 24 hours to 90 days.

3. Invest in funeral cover: Having cover in place will assist your loved ones to honour your memory without financial strain.

4. Update your will: Another far-from-fun one to tick, but an updated will is imperative to ensure your assets are distributed as you would wish, in the unfortunate event of your passing.

5. Make sure your kids are covered: There are risk benefits aimed specifically at children, like Sanlam’s Child Illness and Injury benefit.

Before you hit the road, tick off whether you have covered yourself and your children against health and financial risks associated with your chosen travels and planned activities. Then enjoy a safe trip with peace of mind.
