Penryn Festival promises day of family-friendly fun

MBOMBELA - With the Springboks’ big win at the stadium behind us, the Lowveld has something else to get excited about: the upcoming Penryn Festival on August 19.

Award-winning South African music group Mango Groove has already been booked as the festival’s headliner.

The event, which took eight weeks of planning, promises a host of fun-filled activities, performances by local artists, a beer tent, a market with food and art stalls, a wine and gin bar and a kids zone.

Speaking to Lowvelder about the event, Penryn’s Liesl Scheepers said the festival will soon become a major fixture in the Lowveld’s annual events calendar.

She said that originally, the school would hold a Founders’ Day event, which was an internal affair. The event started expanding to include friends of Penryn, and then, plans to open the event to the entire Lowveld community were dashed when the start of the Covid pandemic was announced in March 2020.

With the Covid restrictions being lifted in 2022, Penryn began rigorous planning for a family-friendly festival.

To find out more about this exciting festival, visit Penryn’s Facebook page, Penryn College, where you can join the event and stay updated on all the information regarding the festival.

Tickets are available on Quicket.
