A firm favourite in the community for years, Lions Pub & Grill, situated at 23 Peter Graham Street, came under new ownership in February 2022, renewing the pub’s relaxed and friendly atmosphere and upgrading its food and drinks menu.
Its specialised menu, carefully designed by the new owners themselves, is filled with exciting and delicious meals, food specials and popular cocktails with a unique twist. Popular dishes include the restaurant’s various burgers, chicken schnitzels, pap and kaiings, eisbeins, pizzas and, likely the pub’s most raved about meal, the beef rib.
The restaurant boasts the use of jumbo eggs with double yolks for its pub lunches, breakfasts and its daily special of rump steak, egg and fries. The restaurant also offers its customers the choice of swapping out their sides of fries and onion rings for pap and sheba.

The new owners, Coenraad van den
Bergh and Karinzke Nel, have over
40 years’ combined experience in the food and beverage industry, and are fiercely passionate about Lions Pub & Grill and each and every customer who walks through its doors.
“We are a community-orientated establishment and want our patrons to feel like they are ‘part of the family’. As owners, we are always on-site, working in the kitchen and ready to help our customers with whatever they may need,” said Nel.
All staff training is done by Nel herself, ensuring the high-quality service that has become the set standard for Lions
Pub & Grill.
Nel said they have big plans for the pub going forward, such as hosting live music shows, offering catering for big events and parties and joining Mr D Food’s delivery service.
“Our immaculate attention to detail and hands-on approach is what makes us special,” Nel said.
