Horse riders aim for nationals with fundraiser

-

Six passionate young Mpumalanga horse riders need your help with getting to their national championships.

And do not worry, this is not the getout-your-wallet-and-sign-a-form type of fundraiser. All they ask you to do is to make a trip to Vygeboom Dam om September 3 for a fun-filled day with the family involving loads of games, stalls, pony rides, a fishing competition, a reptile show, a colour fun run and, of course, the SA vs Australia rugby game that will be on show.

These six riders and their parents have banded together to make all of this possible for you.

To give you a little hint of how committed they are, some of these kids basically grew up on horseback, and this is where they want to be. With your support they can represent our province at the

South African National Equestrian School Association or the South African Western Mounted Games Association’s South African championships.

Among the equestrian community, these institutions are better known as Sanesa and SAWMGA.

Many of these youngsters are members of the Machado Ranch Equestrian Club. First up, are Carli Winter (12) from eManzana (Badplaas), Calvin Steenekamp (14), Ian Steenekamp (11), Peyton David (11) and Regitze van der Merwe (14). They will be representing the province on different levels at the SAWMGA nationals in Parys from October 2 to 6.

Danika O’Brien has been chosen to represent Mpumalanga at Sanesa’s core league meeting.
