In a separate incident

Enduro riders are mourning the death of Evert Grobbelaar. He was a rider from Pretoria who died of natural causes in Hazyview on Sunday while taking part in the South African National Extreme Enduro.

The Lowveld Enduro Club posted on its Facebook page their condolences to Grobbelaar’s family and friends. “Lowveld Enduro Club would like to extend their sincere condolences to the Grobbelaar family in this very difficult time. Grobbelaar, a regular EWXC rider from Pretoria, made his way down to the Lowveld for the first time to take part in the double-header SA National, SA Extreme National and Lowveld Regional Enduro events this past weekend. Although it was his first Lowveld experience, his passion and commitment was felt by all. The South African riding community mourns the loss of one of their own. To Evert’s family and all who knew him, we wish you all courage and peace during this difficult time.”

Enduro World as well as Motorsport South Africa along with a few riders and friends also posted tributes to Grobbelaar.
