Classical sounds welcome spring

- Linzetta Calitz

MBOMBELA - The Lowveld Chamber Music Association celebrated the start of the season with its spring concert hosted at the Penryn Chapel.

The concert came in two instalments on September 3 and 4 and left attendees awestruck from song to song.

The performance was a mixture of melodic voices and instruments like the violin, flute, oboe, harp and piano.

Guests were audibly impressed as each song came to its end, with “I could have danced all night” sung by Linette van der Merwe in the concert eliciting quite the reaction.

Each of the musicians and singers handled their instruments and voices masterfully. Zanta Hofmeyr was on the violin, Theresea Prinsloo alternated between the harp and piano, Janette Rottcher played the piano, and Cassandra Mönnig and Anthea Heap was on the flute and oboe respectively.

The Nocoré Ensemble’s singers also delighted their listeners.
