Vlammies’ U14s turn up the heat on the rugby field

Hoërskool Bergvlam’s U14 rugby team has been on fire this season.

They played 19 games and won 15, an 80% win rate for the season.

The team played in the Mpumalanga semifinals and the Virsekerbe­ker’s final.

The U14s scored 76 tries this season and only conceded 23.

They are the highest ranked rugby team in Hoërskool Bergvlam history, ranking 41 in South Africa out of all the U14 teams from all schools, big and small.

The Vlammies played in the Noordvaal final against Hoërskool Standerton. They won the close hard-fought game 14-12.

They played an away semifinal against Hoërskool Lydenburg and won 22-5.

In the quarterfin­al, they beat Curro Hazeldean 17-7.

Centre Olwethu Nkosi captained the team and scored 98 points during the season.

The boys saluted their head coach Jaydan Louw and assistant coach Jaco Booysens for their contributi­ons to the team’s success.
