A magical Night at Barberton Museum

In celebratio­n of the rich heritage and cultural diversity of the region, the Night at the Museum event was held at Barberton Museum in the week leading up to Heritage Day, in late September.

Barberton local, Sheryn Nader, said all who attended the magical event were transporte­d back in time to celebrate Barberton’s cultural historical diversity and were entertaine­d by those acting the parts of some of the towns flamboyant historical figures.

"We were treated to lovely Swazi singing and drums and during the evening the Sai Natraj Classical Dance Academy, instructed by Radha Srinivasan, performed the Kuchipudi Dance, one of the famous classical Indian dance forms," said Nader.

"The Sebastian family also told us stories as recalled and recounted by their mom who is currently 102 years old and one of our towns oldest residents. After these performanc­es at the museum we started our night walk along the Barberton Heritage Route and encountere­d historical homes, businesses and colourful historical characters along the way."
