Cheers to this year’s Oktoberfest

The long-awaited true-Bavarianstyle TOPS at SPAR Lowveld Oktoberfest is taking place this coming Saturday at the Mbombela Stadium Shed in Mbombela.

According to Johan Heine, chairperson of the Lowveld Oktoberfest, this is a family day for young and old!

Tickets are sold at R150 per person, or R1 500 for a corporate table, and kids under the age of 18 enter free. The FrogFoot and VOX kiddies play area will ensure hours of entertainment.

“One can enjoy local craft beers from Sabie Brewery and Hops Hollow, traditional German food, and a line-up of local and national artists that will keep the beat going in true German style,” Heine said.

Local artists Danny Fisher and Just Sam will kick the day off, and the very popular Sousaphonics Oompah Band will keep you on the dance floor until the late hours of the night.

Those with strong arms and endurance can take part in the beer carrying and beer holding competitions. There are amazing prizes to be won, including R5 000 for the best dressed. Traditional attire is encouraged when attending the festival. The preliminary rounds for these two competitions start at 11:00, with the final announcement of all the competitions taking place at 17:00.

Gates open at 12:00.
