Valencia’s former learners reunite
MBOMBELA - After at least more than 30 years for some, the former pupil, of Valencia Combined School reunited for a night of fun, appreciating some of the teachers, and ultimately reflecting back to the great times of the past.
The Valencia Combined School Reunion 2022 took place at the Oewersig Community Hall on October 29.
One of the organisers, Charissa Sebastian, said they had attempted to have the reunion sooner, but faced challenges. "We are excited to have finally met, and this is a beautiful platform to catch up with former schoolmates. It took us a very long time to get here since we started planning in 2015. We are so glad that we can also pay tribute to those who have passed away, and appreciate some of our teachers," Sebastian said.
She also highlighted the new project that will benefit some of the schoolchildren. "As former leaners at Valencia Combined School, we have started a project to raise funds on behalf of the school to help the underprivileged learners. We are still engaging with one another. Hopefully our efforts will be appreciated," she said.
A former learner, Clifton Fredericks, said he appreciated the efforts that went into putting the occasion together.
"We are already looking forward to the next reunion, hopefully next year, and also seeing the success of uplifting the young ones who go to the school," Fredericks said.
