Moths honour the brave fallen of WWI
The Mpumalanga Shellhole hosted Remembrance Sunday in honour of those who fought bravely and died during the battles of WWI, 104 years ago.
Members of the Memorable Order of Tin Hats (MOTH) from across the Lowveld, including the MOTH Motorcycle Association and civilians, met at the shellhole in White River to commemorate the fallen on November 13.
Remembrance Sunday, also known as Poppy Day, is held annually on the second Sunday in November, closest to Armistice Day, which marked the ceasefire that put an end to all hostilities of WWI at 11:00 on November 11, 1918.
The Stevenson-Hamilton Pipe Band was there to honour the fallen, playing the pipes and drums as the Moths laid down wreaths and the Lowveld Aero Club also put on a spectacular show, flying low over the garden while the wreath-laying ceremony took place.
