MBOMBELA - Lowvelder has welcomed two new members to its editorial team, Blake Linder and Yolandi Hyman.

Hyman made the move to the

Lowveld from Pretoria with her husband in May 2023.

Originally from the East Rand of Johannesburg, Hyman called Pretoria home from 2014 until her move to Mbombela last year.

While in Pretoria, she began her studies towards an LLB law degree at the University of Pretoria, which she completed in 2018.

She was admitted as a legal practitioner to the High Court of South Africa in 2021, enjoyed a stint as a law lecturer at Varsity College in Sandton, while also obtaining her LLM in child law from UP, during which she was accepted into the Golden Key Society.

Last year, Hyman worked for Traffic.org, an international NGO, and assisted them in drafting policies to protect succulents. She completed a short course at the University of Western Cape in animal and environmental law.

As a journalist, Hyman’s focus will mainly be attending court proceedings and reporting on court cases, and also on happenings within the community.

She can be contacted at yolandi@ lowvelder.co.za.

Linder makes the move to Mbombela from Knysna, where he worked as the news editor of the Knysna-Plett Herald from November 2022 until February this year.

He previously worked as a journalist at this paper between May 2019 and October 2022.

Prior to that, he worked at Roodepoort Northsider on the West Rand of Johannesburg, having started his media journey at Letaba Herald in Tzaneen where he grew up, attending Merensky High School.
