CMR treasure hunt shows richness of community unity

BARBERTON - It was a spectacular day out for Lowveld families with tonnes of fun activities for the kids at the Christelike Maatskaplike Raad’s (CMR) Barberton Treasure Hunt at the NG Kerk Barberton on Saturday.

Families flocked to the venue, where the children embarked on exciting treasure hunts on the church grounds, finding stickers along the two different routes, the Jurassic Park Hunt and the Bunny Hunt, in order to collect their prizes for finding all the stickers at the end.

In addition to the hunt, 30 stalls were selling food, drinks and handcrafted items by local entrepreneurs. There was a facepainting station, some bouncy castles, some games and the spraypainting of hair courtesy of CANSA.

CMR Barberton’s Jess Jansen van Rensburg said the day was very well supported and a true show of the community coming together for a good cause. She said they sold

300 tickets for the treasure hunt and collected 32 blankets from donors. She added that it was a successful day for all the stallholders.

CMR Barberton is a registered non-profit organisation that provides social services to the Barberton community. Its primary focus is on the well-being of children, and it provides these services free to families in the Barberton community who are unable to afford this kind of professional service. Often there is need for basic requisites like food and clothing.

The treasure hunt, apart from being a fun family day out to bring the community together, also sought to bring awareness surrounding the organisation and what it does, and to raise funds.
