ABC of CBD

LET’S GET DOWN TO THE NITTY GRITTY: IS IT DAGGA?

-

MARIJUANA, pot, weed, grass, 420, ganja, dope, herb, spliff, joint, blunt, reefer, Mary Jane, buds, chronic, skunk, boom, broccoli, and dagga – these are just a few slang terms for cannabis. But this magazine is not about dagga.

This magazine is about CBD, a part of the plant that is increasingly used in homes across the world.

CBD has in recent years become the rising star ingredient of the plant, thanks to its capacity to deliver mental and physical benefits.

Although CBD is part of the cannabis plant, this magazine is not about getting buzzed.

You see, not all weed gets you high.

Yes, you read that right.

In its raw state, CBD might look a lot like pot, but it’s not.

The chemical compound in cannabis that does make you high is called tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

Still a little confused? Think of it this way: CBD is the medicinal part of the plant without the side effects of THC.

There’ll be no giggles, paranoia, couch lock, disorientation, red eyes, or dry mouth – some of the common effects of smoking a joint or eating a space cake. It won’t alter your perception of reality, nor produce a feeling of euphoria.

So why is everyone so obsessed with it?

CBD has shown to have anti-inflammatory, painrelieving and anti-psychotic properties, making it a useful remedy for a range of ailments.

But before running to the local supermarket’s health aisle to purchase CBD for your own at-home trial, there are a couple of points to bear in mind.
