CANNABIS-INFUSED HONEY
Cannabis-infused honey can be added to food or used to sweeten tea. It’s great as an immune booster and has natural anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties, making it perfect for fighting colds and flu and relieving tight chests. Use 10g cannabis for every 200ml honey.
MAKES
200ml
INGREDIENTS
10g dried cannabis flowers 200ml raw local honey
EQUIPMENT
pantyhose or cheesecloth 1 glass jar with lid string
1 large pot or slow cooker 1 Place the cannabis inside the pantyhose or cheesecloth and tie to make a little bag.
2 Place the cannabis in the jar and pour the honey over it. Seal tightly with the lid.
3 Place the jar in water and use the bain-marie method: fill a large pot two-thirds of the way with water and place the honey and cannabis jar in it. If you are using a slow cooker, fill it to one-third with water and place the jar in the water. Remember, you don’t want to overheat the honey, which also contains valuable medicinal properties, so keep the heat to a moderate temperature.
4 Heat on low for 6-8 hours, checking every 2 hours to make sure the pressure in the jar isn’t building up. If it is, release it by opening the lid slightly then tightening again. Wear gloves, as the jar will be hot.
5 After 6-8 hours, remove the honey jar from the pot or slow cooker.
6 When the honey is cool enough to touch, remove the pantyhose or cheesecloth bag from the jar and squeeze out as much of the honey as possible.
7 Put the lid back on the jar and store in the fridge or in a cool, dark place. If stored correctly, it can remain potent for years.
TIP
Don’t throw away the pantyhose/cheesecloth cannabis bag. Boil it in milk for 15 minutes and make a soothing cannabis
tea before bed.
