WARM WATER IN A HURRY
The Rocket is a water heater designed and manufactured in South Africa. With a small amount of dry wood, you can have hot water within 15 minutes and boiling water within 20 to 25 minutes with the 50-litre model. The device can be installed as a standalone unit or with an existing water heater or geyser. It is ideal for use during power outages and in rural areas where electricity is not available or conventional fuel is hard to come by.
The Rocket comes in sizes of 50, 125 and 250 litres. All models have a built-in firebox. The water heater’s pipe and plate sections are made of mild steel or industrial-grade 304 stainless steel. The black paint finish helps retain the water’s heat.
The manufacturer recommends installing a 400 kPa safety valve and an anode for corrosion protection. These are optional extras. Chimney extensions and bell-shaped spark arresters are also available as optional extras.
According to the manufacturer, the water heater is eco-friendly with a smaller carbon footprint than a braai grill. The Rocket comes with a one-year warranty on materials and manufacturing.
It is based on the wood-chip boilers of Canada and the US, and adapted to local conditions. With larger models, there is space on the top plate for a kettle or a pot while water is heated at the same time.
Price: Starting from R8 304.15 for the mild steel models and from R25 185 for the industrial-grade stainless steel models (delivery excluded and prices subject to change). Inquiries: 011 025 3570, email: paul@water-heaters.co.za, web: water-heaters.co.za
