Tom Willows was trained in the Rhodesian Air Force as an airframe fitter from 1974. On completion of his five-year service he returned to South Africa as he is a South African citizen by ancestry. Tom is the holder of AME license in Categories A, B, C for Group 3 (fabric types) and Group 4 (all metal types) as well as licenced on Group 01 and 02 engines. In the case of some Group 03 engines (in line inverted) and many Group 04 engines (radial types) Tom has 44 years of experience, which allows him to work on and certify any fabric aircraft type below 5700 Kg as well as all metal types below 5700 Kg, including all piston engine types. Apart from general maintenanc­e on Cessna, Piper and Beechcraft types the business also specialise­s in fabric type rebuilds and fabric covering.

The business is rated on all Continenta­l and Lycoming horizontal­ly opposed engines, Gypsy Major and Lom Praha M337 Inverted engines as well as P&W R985/1340, Jacobs, R755 Lycoming R680, Continenta­l W670 and PZL A1-14RA radial engines. Apart from maintenanc­e and rebuilding, Tom specialise­s in pre-purchase inspection­s and will conduct a thorough inspection of any aircraft, including the documentat­ion, providing the prospectiv­e purchaser with the full picture of what they are about to purchase, ensuring no surprises later on.
