The Cubby MKII, as it is now called has had 14 changes made to it, all of which has made a good aircraft even better which include: The Cubby MKII is fitted with a Rotax 912 100 Hp engine and a wider and higher firewall with an easy to remove closed engine cowl system, for less aerodynami­c drag aesthetics. New contoured boot cowl that has the front screen at a flatter rake, the boot cowl can be removed during maintenanc­e.

A moulded fiberglass belly plate in place of fabric covering under the front floorboard­s, easier to clean and can be removed during maintenanc­e. Taller main gear on the tail dragger gives better propeller ground clearance and a more stalled angle during threepoint landings. The door has been enlarged forward and rearward to allow easier access. A half door on the left side opens under the left wing. More leg room in the front cockpit for tall pilots who now fit comfortabl­y. Brake pedals in the front cockpit.

Rudder enlarged with a rounded trailing edge, like a Supercub, provides better rudder authority during landing. Elevators have aerodynami­c balance horns, which lighten stick forces and improve elevator efficiency during landing. The trim tab has been doubled in size, with no gap at the hinge line, this makes for a very responsive trim tab.

Gap seals between the horizontal stabiliser and the fuselage, keeps good airflow over the horizontal stabiliser during flare to land. The Cubby MKII has been made as ‘front seat solo’ aircraft. Market research proved this to be the preferred choice of most pilots. Test flights show that the aircraft has good flying characteri­stics and good control harmony throughout the flight envelope. The stall speed is at 42mph, it mushes down with no wing-drop. Take off at 60mph, climb at 65mph gives 1200-1300FPM solo with full tanks and a 100kg pilot.
