IKARUS C42

-

The German Ikarus C42 has been derived from a 45-year linage, whilst to date 1400 aircraft are operational worldwide. The design is an innovative, modern, advanced ultralight aircraft that sets the new standard for fun and affordable flying. Technically mature and highly capable, this two-seater aircraft makes adventurous flying exciting, easy and extremely cost-effective. The Ikarus C42 is classified as a Light Sport Aircraft (LSA). The C42 has an extremely reliable 4-stroke engine, has a fully enclosed cockpit with a full panel of gauges and cruises at a speedy 100 knots (similar to a lot of smaller certified airplanes).

Obviously, new planes cost more than old ones but even a brand new Ikarus C42 is often less expensive to purchase than all but the basic, or old certified airplanes. Most LSA types, including the Ikarus C42, burn automotive gas versus high priced aviation fuel. If you are competent enough to obtain a pilot’s license, then you are probably competent to maintain your own airplane. Doing even the minimum basic work yourself such as oil changes, regular inspections, minor adjustments, etc. The Ikarus C42 is extremely safe, with a landing speed under 40 mph, even an emergency landing with an engine out is a non-event. For extra safety, full plane parachutes are an easily added option on the Ikarus C42.
