Just over two and a half years ago the Ultimate Group moved into its brand-new Ultimate Heliport, which was purpose designed to house and maintain the company’s growing fleet of helicopters. This is one of the largest heliports in the world that apart from Ultimate Aviation’s own fleet also houses more than 45 private and commercial helicopters. Several other helicopter operators also operate air ambulance services, mining support, vehicle tracking and VIP charters from the Ultimate Heliport. The heliport is centrally located alongside the M1 highway in the prestigious Waterfall development and is ideally centrally situated between Johannesburg and Pretoria.
The company has also carved out a niche market in successfully operating helicopter services in Antarctica. There are only a hand full of helicopter operators in the world that can offer helicopter support in this remote and austere continent. Ultimate Heli has a proud track record of seven consecutive Antarctica seasons where helicopters support scientific programmes for the South African Antarctica programme, various European Antarctica programmes and Asian Antarctica programmes. Ultimate HELI’s helicopter support in Antarctica is vital to various scientists in monitoring climate change as well as various marine life and manel studies.
Ultimate HELI’s aircraft fleet now stands at more than 25 operational aircraft with seven Air Operating Certificates (AOC’s) in Africa. Despite the world COVID-19 pandemic, the Ultimate Aviation Group was able to grow its footprint throughout 2020 by securing exciting new contracts. Ultimate Aviation will continue to grow its operations in Africa and offer much needed rotary and fixed wing support throughout the continent.
