Adventure air staff mojo ‘having fun by being the best’

-

In October 2019 Adventure Air and Zenair signed an agreement to grant Adventure Air the rights to be the only professional-build facility in South Africa of Zenith light sport aircraft. Subsequently Adventure Air was approved and granted the Part 24 type approval in terms of the South African Civil Aviation Regulations under category, production build (LSA) under type and model designation: Zenair CH STOL 750 / CH STOL 750 Cruzer and CH STOL 750 Super Duty. These aircraft types were developed and approved under the guidelines and requirements of SACAA Regulation 24.02.10.

Adventure Air undertakes its own refurbishment and strives to make sure every detail is flawless. Adventure Air can also provide the required interior from seats up to roof lining and undertake embroidery on request. The company has a fully equipped part section with parts available for all the Zenith aircraft types.

STOL CH 750

Adventure Air proudly welcomes their first STOL CH 750 aircraft. The STOL CH 750 aircraft was developed as an ‘off-airport’ short take-off and landing kit aircraft to fulfil the demanding requirements of every pilot. The STOL CH750 boasts amazing short take-off and landing (STOL) performance, surprisingly competitive cruise speed, a huge cabin with sideby-side seating and easy access, new raised skylight, increased cabin height and spectacular ‘wrap-around’ visibility. With outstanding controls including full length flaperons and all flying rudder, the simplicity of the tricycle gear and so many engine choices, the CH750 STOL makes an ideal off-airport or bush airplane.

Adventure Air made the decision to install the Rotax 912 Ul series on the STOL CH 750 and STOL CH 750 Cruzer because, in comparison to the 80 hp version of the Rotax 912 series the 100 hp product line offers more power whilst keeping the same weight.

This engine series offers a time between overhauls of 2,000 hours and the best power to weight ratio in its class; no surprise that this engine is the bestselling 4-stroke aircraft engine. The G3X Touch suite of displays offers incredible installation flexibility. Use any combination of up to four of the 10.6” and 7” landscape or 7” portrait displays. These bright, easy-to-read screens are easily configured as PFDs for attitude, airspeed, altitude, heading, vertical speed and more. MFDs with advanced moving map, including terrain, obstacle and traffic alerts, geo referenced flite charts or Jeppesen Chart View™ charts and Safe Taxi airport diagrams; or optional EIS.

Each display features a high-resolution screen with infrared touchscreen technology that offers large touch points to ensure precise inputs and minimise inadvertent touches, even with gloves and there is a handy bezel to steady your hand in rough air. Of course, G3X Touch also has two familiar concentric knobs and four dedicated buttons, for quick access for nearest direct-to, menu and back, if that suits your style. LSA design all up weight 600 Kg.

ZENITH STOL CH750 ‘SUPER DUTY’

The STOL CH 750 Super Duty is the latest model in the Zenith high-wing line-up. The family resemblance between the STOL CH 750 Super Duty (SD) and the original STOL CH 750 light-sport aircraft is obvious, but the Super Duty offers a much-increased useful load, the addition of a jump seat in the big rear cabin area and more powerful engine choices for maximum short take-off and landing (STOL) capability. Like its predecessors, the STOL CH 750 SD offers extraordinary STOL performance. The factory demonstrator aircraft can take off in only 115 feet with 205 horsepower. It climbs at 1,350 feet per minute, whilst the cruise speed is respectable at 105 mph in stock configuration (with tundra tyres). The landing roll is just 150 feet. The 34 mile per hour stall speed means the airplane excels at slow flight, with excellent manoeuvrability right down to the gentle, mushing stall.

The new Zenith CH 750 Cruzer is an economical all-metal two-seat cross-country cruiser. The CH 750 Cruzer is the ‘on-airport’version of the popular STOL CH 750 ‘off-airport’light sport utility kit plane, famous for its roomy cabin with comfortable side-by-side seating and easy cabin access from both sides. While influenced by its well-known STOL predecessors (the STOL CH 701 ‘Sky Jeep’, the STOL CH 750 and four-seat CH 801 sport utility aircraft), the CH 750 Cruzer is an all-new design optimised as an economical cross-country cruiser for typical airport operations. Design weight 862 Kg.
