As a dedicated helicopter charter and flight training business of excellence in the South African aviation industry, Henley Air is based in three large hangars at Rand Airport. What started out in 1995 as a dream has grown into a major helicopter business. In the early years, the company was using one Bell JetRanger, whereas today Henley Air provides its customers the option of a significant variety of single engine and multiengine helicopters to meet diverse requirements.
The Henley Air hangar houses a Bell 222 / 230 centre of excellence incorporating eight Bell 222 and three Bell 230 types. The latest addition to the Henley Air offering is a newly developed and commissioned Bell 222B/UT simulator which is fully operational.The Henley Air business profile is designed to offer its customers reliability of service from trained professionals in the aviation industry. The charter division will consider all charter requests. In cases where the company does not have the required helicopter within its fleet, Henley Air undertakes to source and operate such a helicopter or a suitable equivalent. Henley Air’s on-call service is available to its customers and clients 24 / 7.

• Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS). Henley Air is proud to be associated with ROCKET (Rapid On-Call Emergency Transport) operating a dedicated Helicopter Emergency Medical Service (HEMS) from Rand Airport and Kimberley Airport. The company owns eight Bell 222UTs and three Bell 230UT that are dedicated, permanently configured, ICU equipped air ambulance helicopters ensuring that an advanced care practitioner-based helicopter service is available for immediate dispatch to life threatening emergencies as a primary resource. This service is also available to expedite inter-facility transfers of the critically ill and injured. ROCKET is one of only three 24 hour HEMS services in South Africa.
Henley Air Flight Training (Pty) Ltd - Helicopter ab-initio flight training (SACAA/1554)
Henley Air offers fully accredited SACAA approved helicopter training on piston and turbine type aircraft in either English or Afrikaans. Henley Air aims to ensure that the flight training experience is an enjoyable and world-class one, where personal attention by instructors ensure sound grounding in all aspects relating to helicopter flight. License courses offered are:
• PPLH (Private Helicopter Pilot License)
• CPLH (Commercial Helicopter Pilot License)
• ATPLH (Airline Transport Helicopter Pilot License)
Course ratings include:
Instructor, instrument, NVG, MCC (H), mountain, night and sling ratings. All flight training is undertaken at Henley Air’s base of operations with professionally qualified instructors and can be completed on any one of the following aircraft types: Agusta, Bell, Airbus and Robinson. Two in-house DFE examiners and seven full-time instructors are available to both internal and external students.
