More than 400 years of wisdom
TOGETHER Koko Rose Nnono, 102, Mosidi Masoba, 102, Dorah Mbila, 100, and Tata Jan Maribe, 100, have chalked up more than 400 years of wisdom between them.
Despite their years, the four centenarians are active although Koko Rose is wheelchair-bound Tata Maribe’s eyes are failing. But that hasn’t stopped them from enjoying life.
“You do not just live through this world, you can only get through it by respecting others and do not go around causing people trouble. You always have to remember that you are a person as well,” she said
Her grand-daughter Mpho Nnong said: “She still does everything on her own although she is in a wheelchair but you can still have a conversation with her.”
Nnong said that she’s lived with her grandmother all her life.
“She has been with me ever since and even paid my school fees. I even got an opportunity to attend an institution of higher learning in the Vaal because of her,” she said.
Tshego Maribe said that her father was a strict man but wonderful father. Although he wasn’t educated he worked very hard right up to the age of 80.
Pastor Themba Mafafo of local NGO, the Kgoro Organisation, threw a party in their honour in Kagiso, Krugerdorp yesterday.
