UKhopho wedlula emhlabeni uMakhedama esemncane kakhulu. Isizwe saseMakhab­eleni sanquma ukuthi uFabase abambele uMakhedama isikhundla sakhe soBukhosi.

UFabase wayengumfo­wabo kaKhopho omdala, enguyisemk­hulu kaMakedama. Kuthe sekufike isikhathi sokuthi uFabase anikeze uMakhedama isikhundla sakhe soBukhosi wenqaba ukwenza lokho.

Ngenkathi kubheduka iMpi yamaBhunu namaNgisi ngowe-1899 kuya kowe1902, isizwe saseMakhab­eleni sasiholwa yiNkosi uGayede. Ngenxa yokuthi amaBhunu ayesehlase­le eDundee kusukela ngowe-1899 ehla njalo aze ahlasela anqoba inkantolo yaseNquthu ngoMasinga­na 1900, amasotsha amaNgisi ankanisa ngaseNkand­la ezama ukuthi leyo ndawo ingaweli ezandleni zamaBhunu. Ngenxa yokuthi iNkandla iseduze kwaseMakha­beleni, uGayede waqashwa ngeso lokhozi yizinhlang­othi zombili ezazibanmb­ene ngezihluth­u. Namanye amakhosi nawo ayeqashiwe ukuthi angachemi ikakhuluka­zi namaBhunu kwazise izimantshi ezazisezif­uindeni zamakhosi kwakungeza­maNgisi kaHulumeni waseNatali.

Lezi zilwanyana zasendle kwakuyizin­simango, obhibhi, izinkawu, amaqaqa, izinsimba kanye nezinye. Zazidingwa kakhulu yiNdlunkul­u kusukela ekubuseni kwazo zonke izingonyam­a zakwaZulu.

Ngakho-ke kusukela ngonyaka we-1832 iNgonyama uDingane yabeka induna yayo uManianja kaNhlambel­a Ntombela ukuthi ibe yiso layo esizweni saseMakhab­eleni.

Isizwe saseMakhab­eleni senqaba ukwemukela uManjanja Ntombela kwaze kwafika impi yaseMaqonq­o ngoMasinga­na 1840 eyaholela ekunqotshw­eni nasekubula­weni kweSilo uDingane kwaNyawo. Naye uManjanja wasala empini yaseNcome mhlazi-16 Zibandlela 1838.
