IT’S ALL THE SAME

-

IS IT JUST ME, OR DO PROFESSIONAL TEAM CARS ALL LOOK ALIKE? IT MAKES THE CONVOY LOOK LIKE VEHICLE ASSEMBLY- LINE OUTPUT BEING DRIVEN TO THE DEALER. YOUR THOUGHTS? – Gugu, Fourways THEY DO ALL LOOK THE SAME, I AGREE. STILL, IT COULD BE worse. For a few years during the old Giro del Capo, the sponsored team cars given to international teams were actually bakkies, which the mechanics sat in the back of. One day a mechanic was told to get a wheel ready for a rider and he stood up in the back of the bakkie – while it was moving. Unfortunately, the sports director braked a little too sharply, and the mechanic flew off the bakkie and into the bush beside the road. He somehow managed to pull off a somersault, and landed on his feet. That was one of the coolest things ever seen on the Giro – from one of the uncoolest team cars ever. FOOTBALL, BUT THAT WOULD BE A STRETCH. I LOVE MY BIKE. I RIDE IT TO GAMES AND PRACTICE. THAT IS OKAY, ISN’T IT? – Nelson, Gardens THERE IS A GREAT PICTURE OF GEORGE Best on a bicycle, which he rode because he had been banned from driving a car after being caught drinking and driving. Also like you, Dutchman Arjen Robben used to cycle to training when he played at Chelsea in the English Premier League, and Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casilas did the same during his debut season at Real Madrid. But all you need to know is that George Best rode a bike. That makes it okay with everyone.
