THE PER­FECT SET­TING

On a crisp spring morn­ing on a moun­tain­side above Italy’s spec­tac­u­lar Lake Garda, an ex­cited group of bike- be­fok jour­nal­ists sipped hard- pressed espressi ( that’s more than one, in Ital­ian) in ea­ger an­tic­i­pa­tion of throw­ing a leg over Cannondale’s all- new race weapon, the Scalpel Si: a bike that en­gi­neers have spent the bet­ter part of three years de­vel­op­ing from the ground up.

Our test track would con­sist of two sin­gle­track loops with a va­ri­ety of ter­rain, ideal for ex­pe­ri­enc­ing the Scalpel’s
