UCI WOMEN’S WORLD ROAD CHAMPIONSHIPS, INNSBRUCK

Bicycling (South Africa) - - Paradise Groad -

Dutch rider Anna van der Breggen could rightly claim to be the best women’s cyclist in the world after winning the Rainbow Jersey, with a brilliant solo win that saw her complete the last 39km of the 156km route alone. Van der Breggen is currently the Olympic and European champion, and also won the silver in the women’s time trial. Van der Breggen bridged the gap to the breakaway and then rode away to beat Australia’s Amanda Spratt by 3 minutes 42 seconds, and averaged 37.18km/h for the tough course.
