A passion project saw Cape Town-based Andrew Bloom and Jon Colledge come together to collaborate on Cabal Bikes – a direct-to-consumer project, offering different bikes and wheelsets. A bike fit is included in the deal, so you receive a bike that’s the right size, with proportionate-length stem, bars, seatpost and cranks to suit you. Focusing on the Aero AE01, the frame is a subtle off-grey/ white, with a flash of colour on the top outlines. While the frames are sourced from an open mould, they’re not generic: Andrew and Jon source Toray T800 carbon and spec the carbon lay-up and wall thickness, following an EPS manufacturing process and strict quality control. The AE01 comes with SRAM Force as standard on the highend build, but we had them spec a full SRAM eTap as well, to take it to a higher dream-bike level – ensuring there are no wires makes it even more aero. (It will also accommodate Di2.)
