MEET JON

Our new gear editor is a travel writer and bike nerd. He owns five bikes (including a BMX from the 1990s), and unfortunately has run out of wall hooks in his garage – otherwise there would definitely be a sixth in the works. He lives in Cape Town; you might see him bumbling along the Kirstenbosch loop at 5.30 on a Wednesday morning, or drinking coffee in Kalk Bay on a Sunday, next to his old steel-frame Sancini.
