U.P stands for ‘Unbeaten Path’ – and it’s a true chameleon, with clearance for 2.1-inch mountainbike tyres on 650b rims, 40mm cross tyres on 700c rims, 28mm road tyres, or anything in between. The secret is the signature dropped driveside chainstay, which frees up space in the most cluttered area of the bike where the chainrings, frame and tyre all fight for space. Moving it out of the way allows for oodles of clearance, but also keeps the back end nice and short for precise handling. There’s not enough space here to geek out over all the other engineering details, like different carbon layups for areas of the frame that require strength or flex, ThruThread weightsaving axles, insanely neat internal cable routing, and flat-mount disc brakes that don’t require adaptors. In summary: the latest version of the U.P is lightweight, incredibly wellmade, and future-proofed for decades to come. It’s a bike designed to go fast and take you far.
