TThis bike is not just a rebranded men’s EX 5 29; it’s been carefully put together to give the female rider a rad trail experience.

The small and extra-small frames have curved top tubes to lower the standover height, and the wheels are 27.5inch – better suited to a compact frame. Speaking of the frame, it’s a stunning piece of hydroformed alloy, with cable routing clearly designed by someone with OCD. And it’s not pink!

Trek will gleefully throw jargon at you when describing the suspension system – Active Braking Pivot, Mino Link adjustable geometry – but all you need to know is that with 130mm of travel at the back and 120mm-140mm up front (depending on frame size), you can take on anything.
