How To Be...
(1) Rollers are steeped in the old-timey and quirky history of cycling. Plus, they force you to focus, balance, engage your core, and really learn to spin. (2) My first win at a race, in 2007, came via a two-man breakaway. In the 13 years since, I’ve yet to win a race in a sprint. (3) Pedalling is so simple and complicated at the same time. (4) You can always upgrade parts later. Get the frame you really want first. That’s the heart of the bike. (5) I’ve never been that great at mashing pedals. That forced me to work out other ways to get ahead. The truly great racers combine both to perfection. (6) Experiences can be shared with others, which makes it so much more valuable than results. (7) The effortless speed of getting pulled along by a large pack can be such a joyful experience.
