We all use it – maybe it’s time to start paying for it! In the absence of traditional events during lockdown, Strava became the go-to timing method for all sorts of alternative races.

The data you get is simply extraordinary. Put your hand up if you sit for ages after your ride, analysing every metric and segment.

Strava recently changed their subscription model, removing much of the functionality we were accustomed to getting for free. With a premium subscription you get access to everything, include the coolest feature of them all – the leaderboard, where you can see how fast you are in relation to your friends.

You can also build your own routes and use the ‘matched ride’ feature, which allows you to compare yourself to others on the same segment, showing exactly where they’re stronger or weaker than you.
