COVID-19 continues to impact our country and the world every day. New cases are rapidly plummeting, this is our reality now, and it is the first for us as citizens and the first for our government. It seem it will get a bit worse before it gets better.
Small business will suffer a devastating blow and township businesses will be the hardest hit. Most small business survive on the economic spinoffs, the outbreak and the government’s response and measures impose already is putting a strain in the local and international trade. Customers are on the survival mode and this means spending is reduced to the utmost essentials.
SME’S are going to die unless they sell. Even though our government and business have introduced some kind of business relief for SME’S most township business won’t qualify for obvious reasons – they are not banked, some are not registered, think of a woman selling fruits and vegetables at a taxi rank she will lose income but she won’t qualify for the relief funds.
We are between a rock and a hard place. Everything is collapsing and beyond this we are still going to find ourselves confronted with the greatest task of rebuilding this will be a challenging time, a test of our faith and resolve a people and a country.
Most will be starting from below zero, seemingly, with nothing. Well irrespective you will have to rise and rebuild as a breadwinner and entrepreneur. It will not be easy.
We are in dilemma, let this time be spent productively and proactively. I am inviting you to empower yourself and your business during this lockdown. Create a to-work-on list for the duration of a lockdown.
