THE KwaZulu-Natal north coast has always been a popular holiday destination but now the demand for property is growing. The stretch of coast from Durban North to Zinkwasi has become a prime property investment location, especially with the completion of the King Shaka international airport, and some professionals are choosing to live at the coast and still work in Gauteng.

The King Shaka Airport is minutes away from Nguni @ Westbrook, which is situated between Umhlanga and Ballito. This sectional-title development is said to have excellent capital-growth prospects as one of the last developments on this stretch to offer prime beach frontage.

Nguni @ Westbrook was developed by Lorber Projects. It is located close to a range of amenities, including shopping centres and the Zimbali and Mount Edgecombe Country Club golf courses. The development overlooks a golden beach typical of this area, and a natural, secure bay, where fishing, kite surfing, paddle skiing and dolphin and whale spotting are the order of the day.

Inspired by an original wall painting on the site, which tells of Nguni cattle whose diverse and colourful hides are named after comparable birds by its local people, this is a development that has been born from its surrounds. It has 24-hour on-site guards, state-of-the-art security and alarmed perimeter fencing.

There are three units left of the total of 44, which range in size from 114m² to 400m².

They include a two-bedroom, two-bathroom unit measuring 114m² on the market for R2,1m. This apartment has sea views and includes an undercover parking bay, an open parking bay, and a storeroom to - accommodate a washing machine and tumble dryer.

There is also a three-bedroom, three-bathroom unit for sale at R3,5m. This 220m² apartment has sea views from the lounge and main bedroom and boasts extra-high ceilings, top-of-the-range finishes and can be purchased fully furnished. Two undercover parking bays and a storeroom are included.

The last penthouse apartment, designed with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, has a private pool and an entertainment area. On the market for R6,8m, this 340m² unit has sea views, top-of-the-range finishes and an entertainment area with a bar and a gas braai.

Imported, first-grade porcelain Italian tiles have been used throughout this development, which also features fittings and fixtures such as frameless showers, Hans Grohe bathroom finishes, Ceasarstone and granite kitchen tops, and aluminium balustrades, doors and windows.

Buyers are from Johannesburg, Durban, Pretoria, the UK, Europe, and Swaziland, and are investors, professionals and entrepreneurs seeking either a holiday home or a permanent residence.

Knowledge Factory’s SAPTG statistics indicate that sectional title properties have seen reasonable growth, with a steady demand, as indicated by the 152 sectional title transfers that took place last year, one of the worst years for the South African property market.

During the 2010 period, 36 sectional title transfers have taken place so far for an average value of R1,562m. Contact: Nguni @ Westbrook. Gary Liebenberg 084 502 4000 Lori Badenhorst 084 502 3000
