Cape Town finances ‘in shape’

Moody’s ratings downgrade of Cape Town was not a reflection of the city’s financial situation and the metro remained in a very strong fiscal position, deputy mayor Ian Neilson yesterday. Moody’s yesterday downgraded the long-term ratings of 12 local governments and changed its outlook to negative from stable on a further seven.
