Some ANC branches backing axed Cele

Some African National Congress branches in KwaZulu-Natal want the axed police commissioner Bheki Cele to be a member of the party’s national executive committee. “Some of our branches, they’ve said to us they are nominating his name and we’ve said we’ve got no problem. There is nothing that precludes his nomination,” ANC provincial secretary Sihle Zikalala said yesterday. However, he rejected recent media reports claiming that the former top policeman was actually campaigning for the job.
