Golden Lions players moving on
Three Golden Lions players have confirmed their moves to other South African franchises for next year’s Super Rugby season. Lock Franco van der Merwe was going out on loan to the Sharks for the 2013 competition, the Lions announced yesterday, while prop Pat Cilliers and flanker Michael Rhodes had penned permanent deals with Western Province. In better news for the team, Lions coach Johan Ackermann and star flyhalf Elton Jantjies were named yesterday as the Currie Cup Coach of the Month and Currie Cup Player of the Month for September respectively.
