Progeny of Jet Master under the hammer

- DAVID MOLLETT Racing Editor

BUYERS are likely to scramble to acquire the last progeny of Jet Master when they come under the hammer for the final time at the Emperors Palace National Yearling Sales in Germiston on April 26 and 28.

Like now-deceased Sadler’s Wells in Europe, Jet Master has been the dominant force in South African breeding for many years.

To mark the occasion, Bloodstock SA will show a tribute to Jet Master 30 minutes before the sale commences on April 26.

“We have arranged to get one of his most famous sons, JJ The Jet Plane, to parade as well, which is sure to delight his many fans,” Bloodstock SA CEO Tom Callaghan said yesterday.

Callaghan believes there could be increased interest from overseas this year as a result of the success of two SA-bred horses, Shea Shea and Soft Falling Rain, on Dubai World Cup night.

“One cannot emphasise enough the huge role Mike de Kock has played in boosting SA bloodstock. He reiterated in Dubai that South African-bred horses represent excellent value for money,” said Callaghan.

Jet Master, who has been represented by over 100 black-type performers, has 27 of his offspring on the two-day sale.

One Jet Master yearling sure to be pulled out of his box on numerous occasions is his son, Time Odyssey (lot 202), who has been consigned by Maine Chance Farms.
