Hees to leave Burger King to head up Heinz
Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway and Jorge Paulo Lemann’s 3G Capital said yesterday that Bernardo Hees will become CEO of HJ Heinz, the tomato sauce maker the billionaire investors are buying. Mr Hees has been CEO of Burger King Worldwide since 2010, the companies said. He is also a partner of 3G. Berkshire and 3G reached a deal in February to buy Heinz for about $23bn, ending the condiment maker’s independence. 3G acquired Burger King in 2010 and took the fast-food chain public last year. “Bernardo is a proven executive with an unparalleled track record of delivering results,” said 3G managing partner Alex Behring.
