Water sales system is lacking

The Department of Water Affairs does not have an adequate system of control over its water sales amounting to R6.605bn for the 2012-13 financial year, said the auditor-general. He said sufficient and appropriate evidence was not available for the amounts disclosed for impairment totalling R3.262bn, compared with R2.467bn in the previous financial year.
