Gold miners mull joint venture

Gold producers Barrick Gold and Newmont Mining will consider a co-operative venture in Nevada, as a sign of how far companies will go to cut costs after the metal’s plunge. Barrick CEO Jamie Sokalsky said the “neighbours” could join assets, forming a single, independently managed joint venture with separate ownership of the respective assets.
