White maize slides after rally

White maize for delivery in July fell 2.8% to R2,776 a tonne by midday on the SA Futures Exchange yesterday, declining by the R80 limit, the biggest drop for a most-active contract since January 14. Prices have rallied this year owing to concern that hot, dry weather in North West and Free State may limit 2015’s harvest.
