FREE State Stars striker Moeketsi Sekola is hungry to win the Premier Soccer League top scorer award again this season, but he knows it won’t be easy to hold on to the crown.

Sekola, who reportedly snubbed Gauteng’s big clubs to stay at Stars, scored 14 league goals last season for Ea Lla Koto and helped the club avoid relegation.

“The award I got last season showed me that hard work really pays off. It has motivated me to work even harder,” Sekola said.

With the new league season about to get under way, Sekola picks five players he considers a threat to his crown.

Jeremy Brockie from SuperSport United.

“I think he is a good striker. He came late last season but managed to bang in the goals. Obviously, he will go for it this

season. He has shown that he has an ability to score goals.”

Puleng Tlolane, from Polokwane City.

“He is good on and off the ball. He really wanted to win (the top scorer award) last season. It’s a pity he couldn’t. Maybe he will want to rectify things and win it this season.”

Bernard Parker, from Kaizer Chiefs.

“He has done it before and I am sure he can go for it again this season. He has the experience and he will use it to score goals.”

Lerato Lamola, from Bloemfontein Celtic.

“I know for sure he will challenge. He makes good runs in the box and is a good finisher. He has shown what he can do.”

Kermit Erasmus of Orlando Pirates.

“He did well last season. I think he scored 16 goals across all competitions. It shows he has that ability to score. His experience will come in handy.”
