JOHANNESBURG — Enterprise Electronic Commerce SA (Pty) Ltd has announced it has acquired Nomad Information System (Pty) Ltd from Bankserv Africa.

“EEC is very pleased to have concluded this transaction with Bankserv Africa and we are delighted that the Nomad staff are now part of the EEC team. We feel that there is a perfect fit in terms of the culture of the two business units, where our merchants are the heart beat of our business ,” said Douglas Gillan, EEC’s CEO.

Enterprise Electronic Commerce SA was founded in 1996 and has embedded itself in the heart of the card processing industry, providing a unique range of payments and valueadded services (VAS) solutions in SA and Africa. EEC’s impressive range of standalone and mobile payments solutions combined with Nomad’s integrated payments solutions will enhance the retailers’ product offering, while being complementary to its host banks.

“It is important that our merchants focus on running their business while the Nomad system takes care of their complete end-to-end, fully integrated card processing needs,” said newly appointed CEO, Donn Engelbrecht.

“We are confident the Nomad platform is perfect for South African retailers to not only expand their business across the country, but also the rest of Africa where EEC has established a significant degree of expertise over the years. We wish to provide a fully customised platform that will fit our merchants’ unique circumstances,” said Engelbrecht. “With this strategic acquisition, our vision is to position Nomad as the leading provider of integrated solutions in the multi-lane retail environment, to be the integrator of choice for retailers, banks and channel partners.”

The Nomad platform is certified by all major commercial banks in SA and is integrated into more than 45 integrated third-party point of sale systems.
